Frizz got you down? Fight back with the Tigi Catwalk Curls Rock leave-in moisturizer.

Did you know that the reason your curly hair turns frizzy is because it’s starving for moisture? Curly hair is naturally more prone to dryness than any other type of hair. Because of this it’s usually parched and looking to soak in moisture from where ever it can and that somewhere is usually the moist air around you. When it drinks it in frizzing occurs and there goes your hairstyle.

By using a leave in conditioner like the Tigi Calwalk brand you’re giving your curly hair the big drink of moisture it needs so it doesn’t have to go look elsewhere for it. Apply a dime to quarter size dollop to damp hair and use a wide toothed comb to evenly distribute the conditioner. Follow up with some Tigi Catwalk Curl Booster and your curly hair is ready for anything the day throws at it without frizzing under pressure.

See what others have said about the Tigi Catwalk Leave-in Moisturizer:

“I have these crazy long curls and without some serious product I can’t control them. This stuff is enough. Now my hair is long frizz free and feels and looks so healthy. I love it!!!”

Keep your curls frizz free by using Tigi Catwalk Curls Rock Leave-in Moisturizer

Straightening your hair and getting it to shine can seem like an unlikely duo. Sebastian Laminates straightening liquigel makes the impossible possible.

I really do love this stuff. I’ve used it in the past and I loved how it made my hair feel. Because it includes silicone in it Sebastian Laminates products promote tons of shine and leaves your hair feeling soft and silky.

For best results use a dime to quarter sized amount and apply to damp hair. Use a wide toothed comb to evenly distribute from root to tip and blow dry straight. Touch up with a flat iron and you’ll be amazed at how great your hair looks for having just straightened it with two heated styling tools.

Is your hair fried within an inch of its life? The Momo Davines shampoo for dry and damaged hair has a cure for your parched hair.

Imported from Italy, Davines shampoo is specially formulated to help breath life back into damaged tresses. Packed with nourishing ingredients such as vitamins C and B and soothing sweet almond and olive ampho (derived from olive oil) gently cleanse and moisturize your hair without the harsh use of chemical detergents found in many other substandard shampoos.

The philosophy behind the Davines line is as beautiful as their products are. The company began to create high end hair care lines 1983 and, in 1996 created the Davines company where they have perfected the art balancing high quality and effective hair care products that are produced from natural and environmentally friendly ingredients. Neither the environment nor the commitment to quality is sacrificed and, as a result, we are featuring this Davines shampoo for those whose hair needs desperate help to rebuild balance and moisture.

See what others have said about this Davines Shampoo:

“I love this shampoo and conditioner. It was amazing. After I had my 1st baby 3 years ago, my hair turned very dry… almost like I could break it (I have somewhat coarse Asian hair). My stylist told me to start using these products, and wow… within a couple of days, my shine was back, my hair was soft again… It was AWESOME!”

–from the Folica.com website

Give your dry and damaged hair the nourishment it needs with the Momo Davines Shampoo.

What so great about the Bumble & Bumble spray? Well, for one, it provides your hairstyle with hold without making it stiff. Soft, moveable hair is what it’s all about these days and lacquered hair is just so darned 80s.

The Bumble & Bumble spray is humidity proof so those who straighten their curly hair will benefit from its protective properties. The vitamin B complex within the spray also helps nourish your hair instead of drying it out like some lower quality hair sprays.

Use this spray before straightening your hair with a flat iron to protect it from heat damage or as a finishing spray on any hairstyle to keep your hair looking great while still being able to run your hands through it.

Meant For: All hair types but gives some special love to those with curly or frizz prone hair.

There’s no denying it—summer is harsh on your hair. Heat and damage from the sun plus chlorine and salt can all work together to leave your hair feeling like its own version of a straw hat. But thankfully there are specifically designed hair care products to combat this summertime abuse.

Cue Warren Tricomi’s Strength Collection. This line is packed with vitamins and silicone to strengthen the hair from the inside out plus keep the outer cuticle smooth and tangle free. If you can keep the outer layer from snarling and breaking you’ve won most of the dry hair battle right there.

But the real gem in the Warren Tricomi collection is the hair strengthener itself. You use this product between shampoos to keep it in tip top summer shape and banish dry, damaged hair.

One of the most important factors to take into consideration when choosing a hairstyle that suits you is your face shape. Today we’re talking about hairstyles for round faces and which ones to gravitate to as well as which ones to avoid.

What to Look for in a Good Hairstyle

The trick to a good complimentary hairstyles is very similar to how we apply makeup. You want to accentuate the good and downplay or camouflage the bad. With hairstyles for round faces you want to counteract some of the roundness and make the face appear a little longer rather than wider.

Bad Hairstyles for Round Faces

Before we can seek out what’s good we need to know what to avoid.

•	Middle Parts: Always use a side part, asymmetrical part or no part at all when you have a round face. Middle parts only accentuate the “ball-like” symmetry of a round face.
•	Bob hairstyles shorter than chin length. A sleek bob cut above the chin will only serve to make your face look larger and rounder than it is.
•	Super-short or super flat hairstyles of any type. Again—it’s all about balance and if you’re going to put a tiny hair cut next to a larger face guess what’s going to happen? Hairstyles for round faces need to have enough length, height and substance to counteract the round shape so leave some hair to work with.

Good Hairstyles for Round Faces

OK—now that we know too short and too flat is bad let’s move on to what does work with round faces.

•	Bob’s chin length or longer: Bob’s that are this length work well because they lay flat against the cheeks and seem to cut down on the amount of exposed face, making it appear slimmer. The only thing you have to watch out for is that you don’t create a lot of volume at the sides which will only add to the width of your face.
•	Hairstyles with Height. Think about it—if you’re face is too wide the best way to counteract that is to make it appear longer. This is done best when you go with hairstyles that have height on the top and are narrower at the sides.
•	Long hairstyles with some layering at the bottom: This works well because, just like the bob, it helps slim the face. Also the layers at the bottom create movement and draw your eye down and away from the face area.

Examples of Great Hairstyles for Round Faces

Here are three great examples of celebrities with round faces who have chosen a great hair cut.

Kelly Clarkson: Her bob hairstyle is sleek and past her chin which elongates her round face.

Image details: 2007 Teen Choice Awards - Arrivals served by picapp.com

Mandy Moore: This is a perfect example of the limit to how short you should go when you have a round face. Notice how, although the hair is tucked behind the ears to create a streamline look on the sides, the layers on top are left a little bit longer and some subtle height is added.

Image details: MTV Video Music Awards 2004 - Arrivals served by picapp.com

Drew Barrymore: Drew makes the most of her long and layered hair by adding waves. Though Drew is often a perpetrator of the middle part faux pas (as seen here) she does soften it a bit so it’s not too severe.

Image details: Premiere Of "Borat: Cultural Learnings Of America" - Arrivals served by picapp.com

We’ve all seen them—those God awful hair color faux pas that leave us wondering “What the hell were you thinking?” Well, about two weeks ago my husband and I took our two little girls to an annual event where I live called the Teddy Bear Picnic.

This is always a popular event and brings in a crowd from all areas of the city. It also brings in some hair color disasters the likes of which hasn’t been seen the early days of Cyndi Lauper. Below is one of three pictures my loyal (and brave) assistant (husband) managed to snap off using our phone’s camera without being detected.

Blonde and Blonder

The Crime: This hair color crime involves going too light too many times. While they say a picture is worth a thousand words I’m still tempted to go on and on about the candy-floss-like texture of this hair due to excessive damage from hair color.

Where this woman went wrong was trying to go so light blonde that she ended up with no hair color at all. The super-dark roots peaking out from under the pony tail show you just how far she strayed from her original hair color.

The Fix: She needs to get her bleached out self to a salon and have that hair filled and recolored. This two step process will help put back some of the base color she’s so ruthlessly stripped from her hair and will be the perfect foundation for a more natural looking color. In this case the fill color will be orange (sounds strange but trust me) and overtop should be a nice caramel blonde. All this of course after she’s had about five inches of fried hair cut off her ends and some layers put in for good measure.

The Lesson: Don’t overdo the blonde! There is such a thing as too light and it can be hazardous to your hair’s style and health. Too bad that vehicle next to her wasn’t a mobile hair salon instead of an ambulance.

Next week I’ll do the last two installments which include the worst use of red hair color I’ve seen yet and a roots disaster of epic proportions.

Most of us think that the luxury of getting our hair blown out on a regular basis is for the wealthy. Think again. If you can’t be bothered to style your own hair regularly but want to keep your bank account in the black seek out your local cosmetology school. Senior students are only a month or so away from graduating to working in a salon as an assistant. You’ll be paying them big bucks in a few months so why not cash in on their talent before it gets expensive. Remember—the students are only styling your hair—if by a small chance it all goes to hell the fix is only a shampoo away.

This little hairstyling gem comes courtesy of Louis Licari’s blog. He reveals that checking with top salons in your area for their class nights can get you an appointment with one of their assistant stylist at no cost to you. All the cutting is overseen by the experienced stylists so there’s no need to be nervous—you’ll be in good hands.
